ITEC is an ISTE affilate who promotes the use of technology in education by demonstrating to its members, other educators and the public developments in the use of educational technology and how its use supports teaching and learning. The ITEC Conference is October 12-14, 2014. It will be held at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, IA. The conference is open to all educators and administrators in Iowa and beyond.

Erin currently serves Sioux Central Community School as an Instructional Leader and Curriculum Director. She has taught middle school language arts and high school English for a combined total of ten years before supporting technology integration at PLAEA for three years. Erin is a passionate educator and curriculum designer. In 2015, she received the ITEC State Technology Leader Award. She has been nationally recognized for her work as a connected educator, including being named in 2012 as one of the connected educators that the New York Times Learning Network admires. Creator of the genius hour project, Read, Be Inspired, Do Something Inspiring/Act, Erin presents regularly about the importance of empowering students through service and about eliminating learning barriers through global classroom connections. She has presented locally and nationally at numerous conferences, including ISTE and November Learning’s Building Learning Communities conference. Erin bridges the worlds of technology and literacy to facilitate greater student voice and choice. She also serves as a board member for the Iowa Student Learning Institute. Erin advocates for the power of student contribution, explaining, “I do not want my students to be the best in the world, I want them to be the best FOR the world.”
